Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, everything you need to know before you go….
We had so much fun visiting Walt Disney World last October! One of the highlights of our trip was Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I had heard this special event at the Magic Kingdom was not to be missed and we were excited to see what all the hype was about.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween is a special event that takes place at the Magic Kingdom on certain dates from August through early November. The event is only available to people who purchase tickets and happens after the park closes to general admission ticket holders. The Magic Kingdom closes early for the party, which officially goes from 7pm to midnight. People with party tickets are allowed to enter as early as 4 pm. Party attendees are given special bracelets upon entering and Disney staff check for bracelets at various checkpoints throughout the park.
Here are a few of the special events guests get to experience during Mickey’s Halloween Party:
- Trick or Treating inside the Magic Kingdom
- Costumes
- Boo-To-You Parade
- Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular
- HalloWishes
- Character Meet and Greets
- Rides Are Open with No/Little Wait
- Special Photo Opportunities
We arrived around 7:30 and had no issues getting in. There were large crowds starting to make their way through the gates but plenty of lines open to allow for security checks and entry points. Our littles were dressed as Olaf and Elsa and couldn’t wait to get inside and see what all the excitement was about.
Walt Disney World does a fabulous job of decorating during Halloween. Pumpkin heads smile and wave and the whole street is filled with festive autumn decor. The castle is all aglow in purple lights and there’s a not-too-spooky smog that covers the park.
Trick or Treating at Mickey’s Halloween Party
Once we were inside we were given a Disney Halloween treat bag filled with candy and a map that guided us to each of the trick-or-treating stations inside the park. The candy stations are very generous, each stop gives out handfuls of full-sized candy bars and brand-name goodies. Needless to say the kiddos were excited about all their sugary loot!

I loved the decorations at the entrance to Main  Street. The big glowing pumpkins were perfect for setting a Halloween scene! There are lots of great photo opportunity spots here and all along MainStreet, great for Memory Makers.
Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular Show
We found our spot in front of the castle and waited to watch the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular Show. I’m a huge Hocus Pocus fan and this showstopper did not disappoint! We loved watching the witches work their magic on the crowd and light up the Magic Kingdom castle. There were tons of guest appearances from our favorite Disney characters, it was definitely worth the wait.
No Wait to Ride Disney World Rides!
Another highlight of the night was getting to ride so many of the Magic Kingdom rides with no lines! No lines!!! Honestly, I think this alone would have made the ticket worth it for us. We hopped right on board all of our favorite rides with no wait. Many of the rides we did not get to experience during the day were open and immediately accessible – the Haunted Mansion ride, Winnie the Pooh, even the Seven Dwarf’s Mine ride!
HalloWishes Fireworks Show
The HalloWishes Halloween fireworks show at Disney World kicked off at 10:15. We found a great spot to watch the fireworks at the end of Main Street. People start lining up about 30 minutes prior though so make sure you make your way over if you want to get a good view. The fireworks are absolutely amazing! It’s truly something you have to see to believe.
Is Mickey’s Halloween Party Worth It?
In my opinion, absolutely! It was an experience that we loved and we left with so many pictures and memories. Not to mention CANDY, lol! But seriously, to be able to experience trick-or-treating at Disney World  along with all the entertainment and extra MAGIC touches, plus no-wait for the rides…. it was so worth it and we can’t wait to go again!

Sounds like fun. Halloween is not something we celebrate in my country. I am not sure I would be excited about it though since I am not used to it.
Last year we went to the Disneyland version of this and loved it. I am so sad that this year the prices have gone up a lot! So sad we will not be making it due to the cost. However, my favorite part is watching all the costumes!
This looks like so much fun! Never been to Disney for Halloween!
Such a fun post! Disney during the holidays is so special!
So fun! We have yet to make it to Disney at all! This sounds like a great time to go though…NO LINES! That part is especially awesome! Great pics, too! 🙂
I haven’t been to Disney World in years! I love that they’ve created a fun, non-scary way to celebrate Halloween! Looks like you all had a great time 🙂
