Shark Week 2018 just kicked off and we are super freaking excited! I don’t know when I got bitten by the Shark Week craze but it’s definitely turned into something we look forward to and celebrate every year. Maybe because there’s just something exciting about sharks we all love, from the smallest to the tallest.
Shark Week 2018 Kicks off – 30th Anniversary of the Discovery Channel Favorite
My four year old thinks sharks are just about the coolest thing in the world, so he was over-the-moon to open up our latest surprise box and find an awesome hammerhead and new game. He had lots of questions about the species of shark so we got to spend a good while playing the “hey Google” game and learning all about sharks. I love this stage of curiousity, but I often wonder what in the world did my parents do when we were my son’s age and so full of questions with no Google to answer them all. I’m finally figuring how the whole “go ask your father” game worked, and why my father usually flipped open his newspaper and pretended to be intensely studying the sports page so he didn’t have to give away that he too did not have an answer.
Did you know there are 9 known species of the hammerhead shark. Their unique head shape actually allows them to see better than all the other sharks. Hammerhead sharks love to snack on stingrays but rarely attack people. And four species are currently threatened by extinction (learn more about that here.)

Sharky’s Diner Game by Alex Brands
Ideal Sharky’s Diner Game lets you test your reflexes by snatching Sharky’s meal before his jaws snap shut! Call out whichever piece of junk you intend to grab from Sharky’s mouth and snatch it with the hook before his jaws close. Pick the wrong piece and his jaws will snap shut! The first player to remove 4 pieces of junk wins the game. I love that this fun family game fosters problem solving, reasoning, patience, hand-eye coordination and social skills. Recommended for children 4 years of age and older.
