There are only a handful of toys that I played with as a child that are still around for my son to enjoy. One of my absolute favorites are PLAY-DOH toys! I could spend hours playing with PLAY-DOH cans as a kid, shaping the compound into fun shapes. Brady loves it too, he’ll spend a whole afternoon playing with a few colorful cans and his PLAY-DOH toy tools.
Did you know that PLAY-DOH will celebrate it’s 60th anniversary this year? The new PLAY-DOH Town segment released in 2016 will mark 60 years of imagination and creative storytelling for all ages. PLAY-DOH will also mark this milestone with fun new licensed character sets, while also reintroducing and paying tribute to iconic playsets from the past.
PLAY-DOH TOWN PLAYSETS INSPIRE IMAGINATION
We got to add some awesome PLAY-DOH Playsets to our toy collection recently from the PLAY-DOH Town world. When the box arrived and we opened it to find a Firehouse, a Pet Store, and Ice Cream truck and a Police Boy, well you can just imagine! Brady freaked out and couldn’t wait to play with them all.
First we opened up the PLAY-DOH Firehouse, since he’s obsessed with firetrucks, firemen and basically anything fireman related. The fire station comes with a firefighter figurine and her pup. Brady loved that you could make water with the cannon and stamp out lots of shapes for flames and firefighter tools. And we thought it was hilarious that the fire pup poops!
Next up, the PLAY-DOH Town Ice Cream Truck set. I thought this one was super cool! You can create PLAY-DOH popsicles or make pretend swirly sundaes. Brady loved loading his figurines up and to drive the truck around town, giving out pretend ice cream treats.
We saved the PLAY-DOH Town Pet Store set to share with someone who loves, loves, loves animals. I brought out this set for a play date and Kate and Brady had a blast making kitties, puppies, bunnies and other little animals. There are shapes for making lots of little creatures, as well as pretend food and even cool accessories for the pet shop owner. The set includes the store owner and her cute pet bunny figure.
What’s your favorite memory of playing with PLAY-DOH toys? Share it on World PLAY-DOH Day, a special celebration on September 16th of all the magic this childhood favorite has inspired over 60 years.
