Sangria, the sweet concoction made from wine and chopped fruit that’s perfect for sipping on a summer day. Or any day really! The perfect party punch because it’s so simple to make and serve at a gathering. Wine, fruit, citrus and soda combine to create this popular drink and there are all sorts of recipes for mixing up the flavor.
The term sangria dates back to the 18th century, derived from the Spanish sangre (blood), in reference to the red color of the drink.
Sangria Recipe
Ingredients
1 bottle of red wine
1 lemon, sliced into wedges
1 orange, sliced
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 ounces brandy
2 cups of club soda
how to make:
Pour wine in a large pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon and orange into the wine.
Toss in the fruit wedges, minus seeds.
Add sugar and brandy, stir till well combined.
Chill overnight.
Add club soda just before serving.
