Fresh Lemonade! 5 Sweet and Simple Recipes for a Summer Classic
Fresh Lemonade! Is there anything that screams summer any more than that? I love sitting outside in the summertime, soaking up the sunshine and sipping a cold glass of lemonade. It’s one of life’s simple pleasures, a sweet reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things.
Something about it always brings back memories of when I was a kid. We’d play outside all day, only taking a break to come inside for a few minutes and cool off. My mom would have a glass filled with ice and a pitcher ready to pour.
There are so many ways to make lemonade, whether you love your lemon water barely kissed by the sugar or syrupy sweet. Then there are all kinds of flavors to give your lemonade a kick. You can even spice it up or spike it with liquor to turn it into a tasty adult beverage. Blend it with ice and make it a frozen citrus concoction.
Here are five of my favorite ways to make lemonade:
Fresh Lemonade Recipes
Classic Lemonade Recipe
–2 cups of sugar
-2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice
-ice
In a large pot bring 4 cups of water to a low boil. Add sugar and remove from heat and allow to cool completely. In a large pitcher or drink dispenser combine 1 gallon of cold water, lemon juice and sugar water. Stir in sliced lemon rounds and refrigerate. Serve over ice.
Mint Lemonade Recipe
Repeat all step above for making classic lemonade. Stir in 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves and muddle. Garnish with mint sprig.
Spicy Lemonade Recipe
This recipe kicks up the classic mixture with a little heat. Follow the recipe for making classic lemonade listed above but add in 3 sliced fresh jalapeno peppers to boiling water. Strain jalapeno peppers out before combining with water and lemon juice. Toss a few fresh sliced jalapenos in glass with lemon slices for garnish.
Strawberry Lemonade Prepare classic lemonade recipe listed above. In a blender combine 8 large strawberries, 2 tablespoons of sugar and one cup of water. Blend until smooth. Stir into lemonade and serve over ice.
Vodka Lemonade Prepare classic lemonade recipe above. Fill a drinking glass with ice. Â Add 1 1/2 oz of premium vodka ( we like Tito’s Handmade Vodka) and fill with lemonade.

While you have my favorites on your list I was caught by the SPICY Lemonade! I must try this! Never heard of it before! Thank you for giving me a new idea!
I have wanted to make pink strawberry lemonade for the longest time. I think my kids would love to make it and it would be a perfect summer treat!

This sounds so refreshing. My son loves lemonade, but I only let him have it on rare occasions. I’m thinking it would be fun to have a lemonade stand so this would be a great recipe for that.
Spicy lemonade is a unique twist. I’m not sure if I’d like the taste of that though eat meals with jalapenos in them all the time. I’m going to have to think about that one!
I love lemonade and we usually have a pitcher of it in the fridge although we don’t have any sugar in ours. I love the sweet taste it adds but my husband needs to avoid it so I have learned to like it this way.
Lemonade is like a symbol for the summer, it’s an icon and a favorite at that! It’s so nice to be able to make it from scratch! My husband and I just love it!
That looks so good! Nothing is better on a hot summer afternoon than a big glass of cold lemonaide. Yum!
