We love to dine out. But let’s be honest, it’s just not as easy or as enjoyable with a baby. Or a five-year-old who morphs into something scary after 7:00 if we are out in public. So these days we don’t make it out to eat as much as we used to.
I’ve been seriously craving pasta dishes lately. Pasta is my comfort food, I would eat it every day if that weren’t crazy. I really miss going out to eat at our favorite Italian restaurants. It’s inspired me to start testing out pasta recipes at home to see if I can replicate the same delicious dishes we love.
The key to a really great plate of pasta is the sauce! After all, what would a pasta dish be without a rich and savory sauce, that’s where all the flavor comes from. Mezzetta makes restaurant quality pasta sauces that are full of flavor. They have a whole lineup of “regional recipes” and “family recipes” inspired by the restaurant-style sauces that people love.
I’m a big fan of the Whole Garlic & Sweet Basil sauce. It’s a savory sauce with just a touch of sweetness, perfect for making a great pasta dish. I used it to try and recreate one of my favorites. Add spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and mozzarella and you’ve got a great family dinner for any night of the week. I like to add grilled chicken to mine, but it tastes just as amazing all on it’s own.
