In my last post I shared a behind the scenes look at my Omagazine photoshoot with Pond’s for the October Issue of Oprah Magazine. And now I’m revealing the big transformation and all the details on my mermaid makeup….
Thank you to Oprah Magazine and Pond’s Beauty for inviting me to a part of this campaign. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Mermaid Makeup for Halloween
I’m so excited to share the final look! Isn’t is insane? I swear I looked in the mirror and could hardly believe it was me. My makeup artist did such an amazing job, and beyond that she was just the sweetest person and made me feel super comfortable.
I loved the trick that she used for the scales! She pulled out a fishnet stocking from her bag of wonders and pulled it over my head. Then she sponged shimmering colors and paints along my hairline and cheeks. After giving it a moment to dry she carefully pulled the fishnet off and ta-dah! Scales!
Here’s a shot of the beginning stages of my eye make-up and face. The bright green was so dramatic, I loved it!
An upclose look at my scales. A little more glitter, a little more shimmer. Some sequins here and there and it’s all starting to come together.
Then it was time for the hair! Oh, the hair…. my hair was a rainbow of colors and stood a mile high. I really loved the volume though, I need to try teasing my crown and front like this again. And it was amazing how well my hair held whatever shape the stylist whipped it into.

Hair on hair on hair! Have you ever seen so many colorful hair pieces!!!
I snapped a flat lay shot of the mermaid accessories the stylist had laid out to try. This swimsuit didn’t make the final cut but I thought it was so fun! I love the hairpiece they chose for the end look and I even got to keep it.
Trying to give my best serious model face… and failing! But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the makeup.
Mermaid Halloween Look
Oprah Magazine October Issue + Pond’s Beauty
Wondering how I ever got this whole mermaid makeup job off? Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser worked like magic. It came right off, no harsh rubbing to remove even the stubborn eye makeup. My skin was back to fresh and clean quickly and easily and it felt so soft and smooth.
Washing away all that hair color was a whole different story, lol! But totally worth it. I loved every minute of this experience and I’m so grateful to Oprah Magazine, the Omagazine team and Pond’s Beauty for inviting me to be a part of this makeover.
Can we please, please do it again next year?
