If you have a teenager who comes home from school absolutely starving every afternoon, you already know: packing lunch for a teen is very different from packing lunch for a little kid.

A few snacks, a sandwich and some fruit might have worked years ago. But as kids get older — especially when you’re feeding a hungry, active teenage boy — lunch needs to feel more like an actual meal.

And that was exactly the problem.

Trying to come up with school lunch ideas for teens that were filling, easy to pack and something they would actually want to eat was getting harder and harder.

Then I found something that completely changed what we could pack for lunch: a heated lunch box.  (Shop ours on AMAZON)

And suddenly leftovers became one of the easiest school lunches.

And It’s Not Just for School

This is also what makes an electric lunch box more useful than something specifically designed for kids.

Older teens can continue using it for work, college, internships, job sites, sports tournaments or long days away from home.

Adults can use it too.

It’s especially useful for anyone who regularly needs to bring meals somewhere without having easy access to a microwave.

So while I originally looked at it as a solution for hot school lunches, it’s really a portable way to bring a real meal along with you.

What I Like About This Cordless Heated Lunch Box

I particularly like the design with a removable stainless-steel food container.

It feels much more like packing an actual meal than stuffing food into a traditional lunch container, and the insulated carrying bag keeps everything together for transport.

For spaghetti, for example, you can simply put the pasta and meat sauce directly into the metal container, then pack the lunch box alongside a water bottle, granola bar, fruit or whatever else they’re taking that day.

It’s simple.

And that’s important because anything involving ten extra steps at 7:00 in the morning isn’t going to last very long in our house.

How to Keep Lunch Hot for School

It’s not really about the lunch box.

It’s about eliminating one more repetitive decision from a busy school morning.

Instead of asking:

What can I pack?

Will he actually eat this?

Is this enough food?

Do we have lunch meat?

You can open the refrigerator, see last night’s dinner and already have an answer.

For families with teenagers, especially kids who are constantly hungry or tired of traditional packed lunches, a heated lunch box opens up an entirely different category of school lunch ideas.

And if your teen would happily choose a bowl of hot spaghetti over another cold sandwich, this is one back-to-school find that may actually get used every single day.
