Kings Dominion Great Pumpkin Fest Fall Fun for Kids

Kings Dominion is one of our favorite attractions in Northern Virginia. It’s a short drive from the DC metro area and there are so many things to do and see you can easily fill a whole day with family fun. Last weekend we headed to KD to check out the Great Pumpkin Fest and see what was new at Planet Snoopy for the fall.

The Great Pumpkin Fest

This daytime event is held at Kings Dominion on Saturdays and Sundays from September 23; and September 30 – October 29 from 12pm to 5pm. Catch Halloween-themed live shows and your favorite Peanuts characters in costume all around Planet Snoopy. Vist Sally’s Pumpkin Painting Patch, Franklin’s Scarecrow Hollow, Pig Pen’s People Washer, a petting zoo, and so much more! Rides are open during the day, as well as Planet Snoopy kids’ area.

We spotted the Great Pumpkin Fest headquarters and headed over to pick-up our treat bag and a map to all the festivities. There are activity stations and spots to trick-or-treat all around Planet Snoopy along with all the normal rides.

I love all the cute fall decorations all around the park. There’s a little bit of spooky and lots of not-so-spooky for the little ones to enjoy. And pumpkins everywhere! Here’s our old pal Charlie Brown greeting guests by the Great Pumpkin coaster, one of our favorite rides.

As soon as Brady spotted PigPen’s People Washer there was no turning back. He couldn’t wait to get covered in suds! Grinning ear to ear he did about a dozen circles around the bubble filled space.

After a good bubble bath, we made our way over to Franklin’s Scarecrow Hollow. At the end of the maze we collected our prize from the friendly trick-or-treat station attendant. I was happy to see that the “treats” were actually small toys instead of candy. We get our fill of candy at Halloween events!

Time to try out the Derby Track! B pedaled his way around, racing his fellow pedal car (or tractor!) racers to the finish line. Nothing like a good pedal car race to work up a hunger. We stopped for a snack and ice cream before venturing to the next stop on our map, the pet farm.

So many furry friends inside the petting farm! We met the cutest mini pig you’ve ever seen, and a few of his bigger brothers and sisters. There were goats, bunnies, birds, ponies and more to love on. B fell in love with one of the bunnies and couldn’t stop talking about how much he loved the little guy. We may or may not be in the market for a new pet, lol!

Outside of the petting zoo we spotted two of our favorites from the Peanuts gang all dressed up for Halloween. Linus and Snoopy gave high-fives and hugs, stopping to snap pictures with all their fans. Brady was thrilled to get to see the characters, he LOVES the Peanuts peeps. Especially Snoopy!

After riding a few of our favorite rides we made our way over to Sally’s Pumpkin Patch, the last stop on our day of fun at Kings Dominion. Brady picked out a pumpkin and joined some friends at a table to decorate gourds together. We waved good-bye to our new friends and carried our little pumpkin and our bag of treats to the car. Another amazing day at Planet Snoopy, full of fall fun and fantastic memories!
