I was so excited and so honored to be invited to be a part of this event! The La Vie en Rose Luncheon raises money for the Mammovan, a mobile van providing free mammograms to women and raising awareness for breast cancer. A lot of important, charitable people and a few celebrities attend the yearly event held at The Italian Embassy in Washington DC. So when they asked me if I would help design a wall of candy and desserts as the focal point for the decor I had to pinch myself as I happily accepted. Kitchen Aid kindly and graciously sponsored the event, donating mixers for the decorations and one for each attendee to take home. The main wall featured THREE tables full of candy and desserts in bright shades of pink. Yes, more than 30 feet of sweets! I used the Kitchen Aid Mixers as centerpieces and added die cut petal fabric to the risers to give the tables a tiered display and add height. Clear takeout boxes with labels I custom designed for the event were given to each guest to fill. How awesome are these custom mammogram van cookies? I was super happy with how they came out, despite my not so artistic drawing of the design. Thankfully my cookie lady can do magic with some dough and icing.
Three huge tables filled with pretty glassy jars of pink candy along the main wall. Pink pipe and drape.
I designed pretty labels to match the hot pink and light pink decor.
I love how the simple centerpieces complemented the fancy petalled table fabric.
The pink macaroons and the frosted mammogram van shaped cookies were very popular!
