Sesame Street Live! just announced they are bringing an exciting new show called Make Your Magic to a neighborhood near you! We LOVED the Let’s Party show last year and can’t wait to see what’s in store when all our favorite characters come to town this time. Thanks to Sesame Street Live! and Feld Entertainment for sending over a special package so we can celebrate and mix up a little magic of our own.
In Make Your Magic Elmo embarks on an exciting adventure to discover the “power of yet.” With a little help from his friends Elmo learns that through perseverance and practice anything is possible.
Learning new skills and working hard to make your dreams come true is an important lesson all kids can benefit from. Like Elmo, my son is curious about learning magic and how to make things, from creating new crafts to cooking up a special recipe. We had so much fun learning how to make blueberry oatmeal muffins! Not only was it a fun way to spend time together, it was a also a chance for him to see how you can do anything if you set your mind to it.
First we gathered up all our ingredients. Then we followed the directions on our recipe cards, adding in each item and mixing it all up. Brady had so much fun pouring each ingredient in and it gave him a chance to see how creating something new starts with following steps, one by one.
I loved watching him gain confidence in what he wanted to achieve with each little step. He carefully poured in the milk and measured each ingredient. When it came time to crack the egg he was so proud of himself for getting it just right!
We loved making blueberry muffins together and I’m pretty sure even Cookie Monster would have been proud of the results! Brady not only added a new skill to his growing list, he got to see that it’s possible to make your own magic. Or muffins, in our case!
