Finding gifts for girls that encourage creativity and imagination beyond playing with dolls is hard. That’s why I was so excited to find the Build and Imagine construction playsets. Kate is such a curious little learner and loves putting things together piece by piece so I knew this would be the perfect birthday gift for her.

The set comes with 18 magnetic pieces that snap together so you can quickly and easily construct a playhouse any way you wish. The pieces are solid, made of very durable material and built to last so you could pass these sets down from child to child. I really love the room illustrations, they’re bright and fun!

Kate was excited about the Malia dollhouse straight out of the box. The packaging was easy to open and well organized, which is always a relief for parents. It’s also made to store the doll house parts after use, so when your child is done playing you don’t have to have a big, bulky dollhouse sitting out. You just pop the pieces back in the box and put it away.

Right out of the box it’s easy to understand how the set works. Kate had no problem figuring out how to assemble the pieces. She loved snapping the walls together and constructing rooms, deciding where the bedrooms should be and where to put the pool. There are so many possibilities for layouts, you could build a one-story or a two-story house and change the rooms around a dozen different ways. This toy is great for developing motor skills, problem solving and spacial skills. Also I think it would be great for encouraging language development and teaching children to point out objects, build stories along with what they are constructing.

The Malia beach house is a big hit! Kate loves hers and has played with it everyday since she got it. I would highly recommend this as a great gift for girls in the 4 to 8 age range. Build and Imagine makes several different themed play sets for girls and boys, including a Marine Rescue Center and Day at the Beach.
