DIY Outdoor Halloween Decorations

1. Ghostly Milk Jugs

This is an easy and family-friendly project. Just take some empty milk jugs and draw faces on them using a black marker. Place a battery-operated tea light inside, and set them along your driveway or pathway. You’ll have an instant ghost family lighting the way.

2. Spider Web

With a little webbing and some creativity, you can easily turn your house into a spooky spiders nest . I saw these on one of our neighbors houses a couple of years ago and I LOVED them! You can order these giant spiders online, they’re great for Halloween decorations that’ll get the neighbors talking.

3. Tin Can Lanterns

Don’t throw away your empty soup or vegetable cans. Punch holes into the sides, either randomly or in the shape of a simple design like a pumpkin or bat. Put a small candle inside, and you’ve got yourself some homemade lanterns to light up your yard.

4. Floating Witch Hats

Pick up some inexpensive witch hats and battery-operated string lights from the store. Place the lights inside the hats and hang them from trees or your porch. Once it gets dark, the floating lit-up hats will make for an enchanting scene. We like this 12 piece witches hat set on Amazon.

Assemble a scarecrow or two using hay bales, old shirts, and pants. If you have straw hats, they can complete the look. Let the kids help decorate the faces, and you’ve got a friendly scarecrow family for your yard.

6. Pumpkin Pathway

Carve or decorate pumpkins and line them along your driveway or front walk. Place small candles inside to light them up at night. Create an arch of faux pumpkins using styrofoam pumpkins and plastic pumpkins. Add a fall leaf garland to fill it all in. It’s a classic and welcoming way to guide trick-or-treaters to your front door. Check out these hanging pumpkin decorations on Amazon.
