Window shutters are an easy update that will freshen up the appearance of your home and give a more appealing, finished look. This post is sponsored by Mid-America Shutters and Blog Meets Brand. All thoughts and opinions shared are my own.
It’s amazing how much small details can make a big impact when it comes to updating the look of your home. We started our own fixer-upper home remodeling projects at the beginning of this year and one of the things on our list is adding shutters. I started saving ideas for shutter styles we liked and researching the best companies that offered quality products to help us achieve the look for our home’s exterior.
Choosing Window Shutters for your Home
We chose Mid-America Shutters for several reasons. They are recognized as one of the leading manufacturers of siding accessories, offering the largest selection of exterior home products in the industry. I loved browsing through their idea gallery online, they have an impressive range of colors and styles so it’s easy to find the perfect fit. In addition to shutters they also offer window and door trim, railing, blocks & vents and gable & ridge vents. Just because we chose this company, it doesn’t mean that you can’t pick someone else, especially if you don’t live locally. For example, if you live in the midlands area of the UK, choosing to buy shuttercraft shutters here would be a better option for you. Wherever you live, there’s bound to be companies out there willing to give you a helping hand when it comes to finding the right windows shutters for your home.
Whether you love the louvered shutter style or prefer the look of panel shutters Mid-America offers a broad range of colors and options to choose from. We decided on board & batten for our home to match the farmhouse style we’ve been working on little by little. I love the simple yet sophisticated charm they add to the outside. Details, details, details!
Mid-America is Made in America!
Another reason we chose Mid-America Shutters is because they are made in the USA! A proud member of the Tapco Group, they have a long history of outstanding quality and service and a strong commitment to their customers. After reading several reviews from highly satisfied customers who gave the company high marks for their outstanding customer service the choice was easy for us.
Installing Window Shutters — Easy DIY Home Design
Once we had decided on which style and color we wanted I was so excited to get our new shutters, but still had a few concerns about installation. Thankfully Mid-America put my worries at ease with one phone call. A representative explained the whole process, answered all my questions and assured me the installation was simple and easy.

Plus they are impervious to moisture and insects so we won’t have to worry about replacing or repairing them. Durability that goes the distance and gives our home a beautiful finished look and better curb appeal!

You are going to think I am NUTS right now, but I have no idea if I have shutters on my house. I will have to try to remember to look tomorrow when I go out for the bus with the boys 🙂
Lol, not at all! Actually I had no idea either when I started looking at ways we could upgrade our exterior. I had the same issue and had to pull up pictures of our house when it was on the market to check and see. It’s crazy though how big of a difference they make and how you can’t stop checking out other homes once you start shopping for your own shutters.
Hadn’t thought about updating our shutters yet. We are getting ready to do our roof and I’m sure it’s going to give our house a new look, but we might have to look into doing shutters eventually as well! Thanks for the reminder and the vote of confidence!
Hi Steven! Good luck with your roof, that will definitely add appeal to your house. And increase the value, great investment. Maybe new shutters will be next on your list 🙂
I will have to check them out! We are buying a house soon and completely redoing it.
We had shutters on our house but they all fell off. Maybe time to replace them.
Lol. This is so fiunny. I guess you live in a house for so long, you can’t really remember anything about it.
I love the idea of this. Tryly awesome and interesting. Love the post.
I am sure this brand has a superb quality and better warranty. I will have to visit their website and see if something might interest me.
Your home is beautiful and I wish I own my own home to do DIY projects like these. You did an awesome job on the window shutters.
Our house already has shutters! I love them. But if they ever break, I’ll keep this post in mind.
HUGE improvement! Shutters are like eyeliner. They’re not necessary but you really notice a difference on the homes that have shutters.
I’d love to have new shutters on our home. I know one day I will. Redoing a home in stages takes time. Thank you for telling us about these window shutters.
My mom has been updating her rental home and these would perfect! I’ll definitely have to share this with her.
Our home is new and came with some beautiful shutters! I will have to keep this in mind for the future!
Shutters provide such an easy way to sharpen the look of a house in an instant. I love the homey feel of shutters as well.
I think this would deff be a great DIY for a man’s job to have him and his buddies over ha ha with a few beers in hand.
I don’t have shutters at my windows because I rent my flat and I don’t own it. If I would own it I would definitely chose to invest in such beautiful shutters, to make sure I get a good night’s sleep without waking up at the first rays of light in the morning.
These really make a difference to the overall look of the house. It looks so much more ‘finished’ now. I love the fact that you can install them yourselves and it’s great that they’re completely weatherproof!
woww that house looks beautiful..and yea good luck with your roof 🙂
This is great information. Our current house doesn’t have window shutters.
I LOVE shutters! They’re like the finishing touch on a home, as far as I’m concerned. They can change the entire elevation!
Shutters can really add to a houses look! We have some and I am planning on painting them this spring!
When i owned my homes I never considered a diy shutter project. Sounds like a definite consideration you made it sound easy.
Wow i cant believe how much of a difference they make, wish i could have them on my house. Great post!
