I thought we were somewhat prepared for life with two. I mean, this isn’t our first rodeo. We’ve had five years of training in the parenting field so I felt like we had the basics covered for welcoming our second child. Oh boy was I wrong!

We’ve been home from the hospital for a couple of weeks now and while the baby cuddles and snuggles have been amazing, I can’t lie. Adjusting to our new life with a newborn has been a little rough. I forgot how the lack of sleep starts to wear you down and the laundry just keeps piling up. The feeding schedule, the diapers, the doctors appointments….. and trying to fit it all into our normal everyday routine. It’s been an adventure!

But now that things are starting to calm down and we’ve had a little bit of time to adjust I’m learning a few life hacks that help make the days easier. Like stocking up on quick and easy foods I can heat and eat in minutes.

Remember how I told you guys about the new Gorton’s Shrimp Bowls? I found them in the frozen section while shopping for groceries and decided to try them.

They come in two tasty flavors: Black Garlic & Wine Risotto and Stir Fry Soba Noodles.

I love that they heat up in less than six minutes and are ready to enjoy right in the bowl. I don’t have to worry about more dishes to wash or trying to put together a whole meal for myself.  I can grab a Shrimp Bowl from the freezer, pop it in the microwave and have a delicious meal before the baby wakes up from his nap.

I know that this season of life is short and while it sometimes feels like we are in complete survival mode, it’s so worth it. I couldn’t be more in love with our sweet baby boy. Holding him is everything and I want to feel fully present and focused on this time in my life. It goes by so fast.

So, the laundry can continue to pile up. I plan on stocking the freezer up with more Shrimp Bowls and easy meals. Less stress, less mess, more time to spend with my boys. That’s all that really matters in these moments.
