Hello August! I love this time of year for so many reasons. Back to school time has always been exciting for me, as a kid and even now. I get a little giddy at the site of all the shelves stocked with Office Supplies. Pens, paper, crayons, and even a portable printer, it completely brings out my inner nerd even though it’s been years since I’ve spent a significant amount of time in a classroom.

We’ve been gearing up for the start of the school year for my little guy. He’s all kinds of excited about meeting his new teacher and making new friends. Because there’s plenty of planning and prepping that goes into getting momlife organized with the start of a new school year.

Here are a few things I’ve found extra handy with our back to school list of shopping and to-dos….

New School Year = Time for a Fresh Pair of Frames

Eyesight is extra important my friends! For your little one and for yourself. Getting your eyes checked and keeping those optometrist appointments regularly will literally save you a ton of headache and stress. As in stress on your eyes and stress on your brain! I learned this the hard way last year. I was pretty convinced I must have some strange illness or auto-immune disease because I couldn’t knock the brain fog that plagued my every day. No amount of coffee could cure it and I couldn’t seem to get my eyes to work. Turns out I had neglected getting a new eye exam for so long that my eyesight had changed. A fresh pair of glasses and a new set of frames got me back on track and made me feel like a brand new person.

Do not underestimate the importance of your eyesight! And do yourself and your child a favor and invest in frames that fit your face well and make you feel confident and comfortable.

BLOT School Supplies

Okay, I have a thing for colorful pens, markers and pencils. I love having a nice collection to use with my daily planner and to mark up notes and to-dos with. Turns out my son loves them too! I’m having a hard time sharing so we’ve come to happy medium. I get the Ombre Pastel Gel Pens and the Retractable Ballpoint Pens. He gets the Blot Mini Gel Pens. We’ve agreed to share the Mini Highlighters and we’ve split the Mechanical Pencils evenly. Sharing is important, and it’s a lesson I’m still learning obviously.
