I’ve got a fun idea for awesome pumpkin carvings for you. With a toddler your pumpkin decorating options are pretty limited. My little guy is way too curious and quick handed so sharp objects aren’t an option. Plus, he has a two minute attention span so any kind of intricate cool pumpkin carving detail wouldn’t make the cut. I came across this idea of using cookie cutters to carve up your pumpkins on Pinterest and thought, GREAT IDEA. We gave it a try and guess what, Pinterest win. B had so much fun and our pumpkin came out super cute.
Look at that face. He’s loving this.
First you’ll need to cut a circle around the stem to remove the top. Then use an ice cream scoop to remove the pumpkin seeds.
Now grab your cookie cutters and a hammer. Hammer the cookie cutter into the pumpkin. We used our halloween cookie cutters, a bat, a ghost and a cat!
Pull out your cookie cutter and push the shape out.
Bonus: You can use those pumpkin shapes as stamps for another fun Halloween kids project.
Tada! Our pumpkin turned out awesome and best of all it was a simple, easy, tantrum-free project! Yayyyyy!
And here he is doing his pumpkin dance!
