We’re sharing fun ideas for packing up snacks and hitting the beach this summer. Thank you to The Kraft Heinz Company, General Mills, PepsiCo and Publix for sponsoring this post.

Summer break is here and we’re excited to spend the next few months soaking up the sunshine and getting our splash on. When it’s hot outside there’s simply nothing better than being near water. Most of the summer you’ll find us at the pool, the lake or the beach. Anywhere we can cool off and have some fun floating and flipping all day long.

Last weekend we packed up the car and headed to the beach. One of the things I love about living in NC is that we are only a few hours away from so many great beaches. It’s nice to get away for a few days and sink our toes in the sand.

I’m all about packing our coolers and bringing lots of our favorite snacks from Publix along when we travel. Not only is it much healthier than eating out and grabbing fast food, it’s also a lot less expensive. And it allows us to spend more time doing the things we love instead of shopping and running around searching for food.

Before we set-off on our weekend beach trip I made sure to pack our cooler with lots of snacks for the road trip and also so we could picnic on the beach. Once we’ve found the perfect spot, set-up our umbrellas and blown up all the floaty things, we’re there for the day! So I made my shopping list and headed to Publix to stock up on all the things we would need to pack the perfect cooler.

Here’s a look at a few of my go-to snacks for a yummy beach picnic:

  • fresh fruit
  • cheese and crackers
  • Mott’s Fruit Snacks
  • Yoplait Go-Gurt
  • Frito-Lay Variety Pack or Sack Chips
  • Planters Cashew Halves

Strawberries, grapes, bananas, oranges and apples are easy to pack up and perfect for road trips or snacking at the beach. I’m a big fan of cheese and crackers, I could nibble on them all day long! The kids love fruit snacks, I try to keep them stocked up for when we travel. Yoplait Go-Gurt is great for kids who are busy having fun at the beach. We like to freeze them too for a cold treat that’s delicious on a hot summer day.

Tip– Use freezer packs to keep your food fresh and cool. I layer them on the bottom, top and in-between our food so that everything stays nice and cold.

Here’s a fun idea my son loves for how to set-up an awesome beach picnic. I pick up some inexpensive sand toys and use those to set out our snacks. Fill up a beach pail with chips, use small sand toys as mini serving plates and bowls for food. The kids love to nibble on their snacks and then use the toys to play in the sand.
