Ruby Falls, a popular Chattanooga attraction, is America’s deepest cave accessible to the public and has the largest underground waterfall. It’s also where we started off for the second day of our Spring Break Safari. After breakfast at the hotel we met up with our tour guides and set-off to explore.

Ruby Falls Caves & Underground Waterfall

What if you could venture underground, deep inside a cavern at Ruby Falls on Lookout Mountain and be a speleologist for the day?
Our Chattanooga Fun itinerary for the day started off with plans to go spelunking through the caves at Ruby Falls. This was my first time going inside of a cave and I was excited to see what it was like.

He explained the different types of rock formations and gave us a little history lesson on how the caves came to be discovered. The highlight of the tour is seeing the underground waterfall. Each group is given a small frame of time to photograph and enjoy the falls all lit up with colorful lights and music playing in the background. It’s truly stunning!

Big Rock City

Our next stop: Big Rock City! High atop Lookout Mountain, Rock City features massive ancient rock formations and panoramic views 1,700 feet above sea level. After lunch with the Fairy Godmother we made our way through the Enchanted Gardens searching for fairies, gnomes and all sorts of other magical creatures.

We stopped to read the tale of how this overhang got it’s name and snapped a few shots with the beautiful waterfall cascading in the background.

Restaurants in Chattanooga TN — Puckett’s Grocery

A day filled with hiking and exploration really worked up our appetites and we couldn’t wait for dinner at Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant. This laid back spot next to the Tennessee Aquarium serves up authentic comfort food. The sausage and cheese platter and the fried tomatoes appetizers were delicious! The Piggy Mac, a bowl of cheese covered pasta topped with down-home barbecue was soooo good!

High Point Rock Climbing Center

After dinner we walked across to the High Point Rock Climbing and Fitness Center to work off a little off the feast we had just devoured. With over 3000 square feet of indoor rock climbing space this place offers lots of fun for all ages.

After getting our gear on and learning the basics Brady was ready to start climbing “like Spider Man” lol! It was so fun to watch him work his way up the rock walls, going farther and farther each time. And it was exciting to see how quickly he gained confidence in himself and climbed outside of his comfort zone. A little over an hour in and he was scaling the tall city structures and leaping from the top.

We LOVED the High Point Climbing Center, it has so much to offer any age, kids and adults. There were enormous walls with highly-skilled novices scaling their way up and areas where people were just learning the ropes. And everyone was having so much fun!
