Keep Kids Entertained In the Car- Fun Apps for Roadtrips with Kids #shop #kidsapps #collectivebias #DisneyPixarCarsToGo

We really like to get out and make the most of our summer with day trips to the beach, the lake or nearby theme parks . I recently got a new dash cam from somewhere like BlackBoxMyCar because we travel so much, after all, you never know when you’ll have an accident! Speaking of accidents, I recently had to get some new car insurance since it was time for renewal. My friend told me to check out cheapautoinsurance.co.uk since she got a really good deal with them, so it might be worth checking them out. Living in Washington DC we’re lucky to have lots of fun places to take the kids and there are tons of family friendly events going on all the time. Only problem is traffic around here is terrible. The worst! So I’m always looking for fun things to keep the kids busy and keep me from going crazy when we get trapped in the car for long rides. After her day trips, my friend tells me she likes to have something similar to garage floor mats for cars to help keep her garage clean! There is usually enough mess with her kids to deal with, not having to worry about the garage so much has been a real time saver but I digress.

Brady is totally into cars and Kate really likes to put together tracks. They both love the Disney Pixar Cars movie, it pretty much lives in our DVD player. I found the Radiator Springs Story Set at Toys R Us and knew they would love it so I grabbed it along with a few more Cars toys to add to their collection.

Update: In-Store at Toys “R” Us 25% Off All CARS Die-Cast $9.99 And Under (7/26 – 8/22)

Kate claimed the Ramone car , she says he’s “the cool one!” She likes his shiny paint job.

Before we headed off to the lake for the weekend I downloaded the Cars Daredevil Garage App to our Ipad for Kate to play on the way. The cool thing about this app is you can scan your diecast Cars characters and add them to your garage as a player in the game. You can earn more players through gameplay or purchase them in the app to add to your collection.

The app is free and easy to download and set-up. Here’s a quick tutorial to get you started.

How to Download and Set-Up the Cars Daredevil Garage App:
Currently compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.

  • Go to the App Store. Search for Cars Daredevil Garage and download the free App.
  • Choose a car or scan one of your Cars Diecast Toy Cars into the game. Scan a car by clicking the camera icon at top left, placing car on a light colored blank surface and hold iPad over the toy car so the camera can scan. Game will show your car when the scan is successfully completed.
  • Car is now saved to your garage. Choose your car and select a course. You’re ready to race!Kate loves racing through the loops and boosting her car through jumps and stunts. Brady played with his toy cars and The Radiator Springs Story Set along to the sounds of the game. He’s pretty much obsessed with Lightning McQueen.

Our two hour drive was the quietest we’ve ever had with the exception of a few “Vroom, vroom” sounds and an occasional “Go, go, go!” They spent the whole drive racing through obstacle courses and earning new cars to add to their garage. I’d have to give this app a big high-five for occupying my kids so well they forgot to cry about being stuck in the car or even beg for snacks. I got to listen to an entire podcast and have a nice uninterrupted conversation with my husband. That’s almost a miracle!

I’ve shared my ideas for keeping kids entertained in the car with the Cars Daredevil Garage App. What do you use to keep your little ones busy in the backseat?
