Finally, it’s starting to feel like autumn around here! The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting colder and leaves are all over the ground. Is there anything better than the feeling of fall? Doesn’t it make you want to get together with friends for a tailgate or cozy up by a big fire in the backyard?
That’s my favorite way to spend a fall weekend, and after a crazy busy month of traveling and getting back on our school schedule we finally got the chance to have a chill get together at home. Just a few good friends over on a Sunday afternoon to watch football, enjoy some good eats and tasty beverages.
Perfect time to crack open this new drink we recently came across and give it a try. I mean how cool does the bottle alone look? It’s all southern tradition and Americana poured into a mason jar and ready to party.
Brewed and bottled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Great America http://drinkgreatamerica.com/ is a specialty beverage made for people who like to get outside and live a little. Hey, we could all use a little more adventure right? It’s available in 6%, 12%, and 14% ABVs and eight specialty flavors: apple pie, peach, blueberry, Carolina clear, watermelon strawberry, lemonade and pumpkin pie.
Is your mouth watering yet? Let me just tell you, my tongue did I little dance the first time I tasted the apple pie flavor. It’s amazing, and my favorite out of all the ones we tried. Peach and Carolina Clear come in seconds, being a Carolina girl of course. Just go ahead and plan on sharing, having a tasting party, because everyone is gonna want a sip.
Great America tastes great straight from the bottle, but I would love to try mixing it up and making some cocktails. I’m sure the pumpkin pie flavor would make a delicious drink for Thanksgiving. And can’t you just imagine shaking the strawberry one up to make a cool summer concoction.
And just in case you’re wondering, Great America is not a moonshine. It’s a flavored malt beverage specialty. I raised an eyebrow at the mason jar too. I mean I love to have fun but we got to go back to adulting come Monday morning, lol!
So our Sunday fun day turned out to be perfect. After the football games ended we moved the party outside and got a good fire going. It was just chilly enough to cuddle up with a blanket, get good and cozy. We told stories about our summer adventures and laughed about all the crazy things we can’t believe we did in our younger days.
How are ya’ll getting out and enjoying these gorgeous fall weekends? Tell me all about your favorite things to do on the weekends, I want to hear some fun stories.
